Frequently Asked Questions
It's an online platform (Developed by Rift Valley Institute of Business Studies) to help you discover which career path and college course might suit you best. Think of it as a career quiz plus a course finder combined. You answer questions about yourself, and it gives you personalized recommendations for RVIBS programs that align with your passions. It's designed for students like you who are finishing high school and wondering “What next?”
Absolutely FREE! You don't have to pay anything to sign up, take the quiz, or see your course matches. We built this tool to support students, so please use it as much as you want. The only time you'd spend money is if you decide to apply for a course (normal college application fees may apply then), but using the portal itself costs nothing.
Not at all. If you can use Facebook or WhatsApp, you can use this portal with ease. It's designed to be user-friendly and mobile-friendly too. The questions are straightforward (mostly multiple-choice about what you like). If you need help, you can always ask a friend, teacher, or even call us for guidance. Plus, there's 24/7 technical support available if you get stuck - but we doubt you'll need it because the process is simple.
Great question! The portal uses what we call psychometric assessments - basically a fancy term for interest and personality quizzes. Your answers are run through an intelligent system (with a bit of AI magic) that compares your profile to different career paths. For example, if you show interest in art and entrepreneurship, it might match you with a course like Fashion Design or Business. It's similar to how streaming apps suggest movies, but here we suggest education and career options. The matches are based on research and data, but remember: you know yourself best. The results are suggestions to help you decide, not orders. You get to make the final choice of what feels right.
Don't panic! It's totally normal at 17 or 18 to feel confused about your interests or strengths. The portal is actually perfect for you - the questions will make you reflect on things you enjoy (even little things like whether you prefer working with people or alone, indoors or outdoors). You might discover interests you didn't realize you had. And if the suggestions you get don't excite you, that's useful info too. Sometimes knowing what you don't like is just as important. You can try the quiz again or view all courses to see if something clicks. Also, consider talking to a career counselor or mentor (we're available at RVIBS to chat!). This is a journey, and it's okay to take time to figure it out.
RVIBS offers a huge variety of diploma, certificate, and artisan courses - far more than we can list here. We have programs in Engineering, ICT, Business, Agriculture, Fashion, Media, Cosmetology (Beauty), Health Sciences, Hospitality, and even Driving & Solar Technology. We've been training Kenya's best in many of these fields for over 17 years, so you're joining a college with lots of experience. The portal will show you the courses that match your interests, but you can also browse our website's departments page for the full list. Whether you're more hands-on, creative, or academic, you'll find something that fits you.
There's no obligation. Feel free to use the portal just to explore your options. If you get a match you love, we certainly welcome you to apply to RVIBS and join our community! (We'd love to have you). But if you decide on a different path - that's okay too. Our main goal is to help you make an informed decision about your future. Of course, we're confident that our programs are top-notch and many students end up choosing RVIBS once they see a good fit. In short: use the portal as a decision tool, and when you're ready to take the next step, we'll be here to assist with enrollment.
Yes, for sure. We understand that a website can't answer everything. If you have questions like course requirements, fee structure, campus life, or you just want personal advice, reach out to us! Our counselors and support staff are super friendly and happy to talk. You can phone, email, or even visit our campus (see the Contact section below). Sometimes a quick chat can clear up a lot. So don't hesitate - we're here for you, online and offline.
